家紋について

This cross symbol is awarded in the Amakusa Shimabara region in Japan.

The meaning of the symbol:

The middle cross is wrapped by the persimmon tree leaf. Top 3 indicate three stars, i.e., represent the universe. Left side indicates the Sun. Right side indicates the Moon.

Due to the difficulty of curving 3 starts, it seems to added one dot on the top of the original tombstone. Christ ascended to heaven and became the moon, sun, and stars, watching over everyone from heaven.
